The MSc vivas will be held on the 16th and 17th of September 2010.


First Week of Term
Please note there are no lectures in the first week of term (starting 4th Jan) — this week is exclusively for exams and assessments. Lectures will commence on 11th Jan, weather permitting. Please check this page for the latest information regarding possible cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, or phone the departmental office.

Access departmental computers from home
Here is a PDF explaining how to download and use PuTTY and Xming to access the departmental machines from your home PC (thanks Stuart). Here is a MS Word doc covering the same topic for Mac users (many thanks to James Streetley for this).


Transfering files
A short tutorial by Stuart Skelton about how to transfer files to/from your home computer using Filezilla is available here (PDF). Filezilla is free to download and easy to use.

Information for prospective students

The current MSc Bioinformatics with Systems Biology at Birkbeck College has grown out of a former MSc in Bioinformatics, one of the longest-established Bioinformatics Masters degrees in the country. Since Autumn 2007 the MSc has been run as a collaboration between the School of Crystallography at Birkbeck College and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University College London. The programme of study is available full-time over one year or part-time over two years.
